Hello everyone, I just want to say something regarding Sophia Palahicky's February 13, 2014 presentation. She presented a lot of important points I wished I had more time to discuss most of the ideas forwarded in the presentation. Here are some of the points I thought important to me.
She asked the class how do we think technology is changing education, there were a productive discussion among students who share different views. The other point Sophia mentioned in her presentation was technology allowed teachers to do things which we couldn't do before, I totally agree on this point. She explained to us the difference between Learning Vs Instruction for web based courses followed by related examples.
I was also fascinated how she define Pedagogy- it is how I teach Not what I teach. She also mentioned Independent Study Option, Teacher Mediated Option, and Web Based Courses are the three different pedagogies in distance models. She also told us there are 42 web based courses, approximately 1000 teachers and 9000 students currently enrolled in the Web based Courses.
Finally, I have gain a huge amount of knowledge for her presentation and I am very happy to know that I have good resources available to mix it up into my teaching.
